This classical concert features solos and ensembles of the most well-known Zarzuelas of all time.

Zarzuela is a traditional Spanish musical genre that originated in the 17th century and has since evolved into a distinctive lyric form combining operatic, theatrical, and musical elements, featuring a mix of sung and spoken parts. The genre found its way to the Americas during the colonial period and subsequently experienced a notable expansion and adaptation in the New World. As Spanish culture took root in Latin America, the genre merged with indigenous musical traditions, creating a unique fusion that reflected the cultural diversity of the region.

Featuring international singers Heming Cao, Tatevik Kocharyan, Mónica López, Lucia Panizza, and Lina Sarmiento; and Dr. Libor Dudas on the piano.

As a Hispanic lead nonprofit organization, it is part of Boston Opera & Zarzuela's mission to share our musical heritage in Boston.
